Ten members will be representing Mansfield Inner Wheel at the Annual Association Conference held this year in Cardiff between 8th and 11th April. There they will have the opportunity to  enjoy IW friendship as well as have time for leisure and sightseeing around the city.

Following the opening ecumenical service at the conference, they will listen to good speakers like Dame Esther Ranzten, obtain updates on IW’s achievements and hear different charity presentations about local, national and international projects. After a busy two days everyone looks forward to the final evening’s lively entertainment when they will be “Dressing to Impress”.

More details are available in the spring issue of the IW Association magazine.

The Annual Conference

The Association of Inner Wheel Club of Great Britain and Ireland holds an annual conference for members over a period of two days during the Spring.Various venues have been chosen over the years including Blackpool, Nottingham, Glasgow, Belfast, Plymouth and Cardiff. This year the conference is again being held in Cardiff and members of the Mansfield club are looking forward to attending, as it provides an insight into the workings of an organization such as ours.It gives us the opportunity to participate together in a few days break from home with time for leisure and sightseeing as well as representing Mansfield at the conference.

During the first evening there is usually the opportunity to meet up with members of other clubs within our district for a get-together with suitable refreshments and entertainment. The conference agenda is based on a formal Annual General Meeting with reports from individuals responsible for our finances, international projects and activities within Great Britain and Ireland.

The first day opens with an ecumenical service and often the local Inner Wheel district is able provide their own choir which will lead the members in hymn singing.

During various conference sessions there are excellent speakers who are often allied to charities being supported by Inner Wheel. Over the years the charities have included MacMillan Cancer Research, N.S.P.C.C and The Alzheimer’s Society. This year the Association President has chosen Children’s Hospices as the main beneficiaries for fund-raising activities. The final event incorporates a musical evening with a band and dancing and also the chance to promote the district by wearing a united dress theme.

A group of Mansfield members has attended the annual conference for over twenty years and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and gained valuable knowledge and ideas from other Inner Wheel members countrywide.
